MOUSER~SHEEP~WAGON~FALL GATHERING

Thanks for stopping by. I am pleased to introduce you to Farmer McMouse, his trusty sheep, Beulah and his BFF Lil' Louie. Now Lil' Louie thinks his most important job in life is to keep ole McMouse abreast of all the goings-on in the Land of Nod. Truth told, McMouse does enjoy the company during the long trek from the pumpkin patch. And most times, Lil' Louie does spin quite a yarn to keep the ole farmer amused.

This is a one of a kind fall gathering by Buttermilk Creek Farm. It measures approximately 17 inches long from the back of the wagon to the front of the sheep and is approx. 6 1/2 inches tall. This gathering is made so it can be viewed from either side.

The wagon is made from a vintage, weathered piece of barn wood. The pumpkins (5) are made of painted and aged muslin with grapevine wire stems and wool felt leaves. They are securely attached to the wagon. Lil' Louie is made of painted and aged muslin and is 2 1/2 inches long.



Farmer McMouse is made of aged osnaburg. His face is needle sculpted. His eyes are black seed beads and his nose is painted. His shirt and neckerchief are made of homespun and his overalls are made from old denim. His arms and legs are wired for posing and his dilapidated ole hat is made of osnaburg. He sits atop an old bale of hay.




Beulah is made of muslin and is covered with vintage, hard to find, seed batting. Her blanket is made of drab green wool felt. All of the edges have been blanket stitched. The pockets on her blanket are filled with dried, sweet annie. Her harness is made of grapevine wire and can be detached from the wagon for ease of storage.

SIMPLE HALLOWEEN MOUSER

Sometimes, simple is best!! This prim halloween mouser is made of osnaburg that has been stained and aged. She stands approximately 5 1/2 inches tall including her hat.

Her face is needle sculpted with an embroidered nose and black seed bead eyes. Her whiskers are sisal and her ears are wool felt. Her feet are rusty square head nails and she is weighted to sit nicely. Her tail is rusty wire.

Her hat is made of wool felt and has been wired to hold its shape. Her scarf is stained cheesecloth and she holds her old broom made of excelsior with a grapevine wire handle. Her little pumpkin is made of painted and aged muslin and is included in this halloween gathering.

GIVEAWAY AND FALL SWAP

Good morning to all my friends in blogland!!! I hope your week started out great and only gets better!!

I just have to share with you the GREAT GIVEAWAY that I was fortunate to win last week that was hosted by Sara of SALMON FALLS PRIMS.



It is PRIM PERFECT!!! This Santa is huge, measuring 30 inches tall. It will be perfect for all passerbys to see this winter:) If you haven't met Sara yet your are missing out. We also decided to do a swap. I have been looking for some great new fall items to decorate our porch that we remodeled last year. Sara had this awesome scarecrow in her etsy shop that I fell in love with. I am so anxious to put this out for display. I think all of my fall/halloween stuff is coming out next week. I just can't wait any longer. heehee!



AND....as if that wasn't enough, there was a cute little bag also in the mailing box that contained several pieces of wooden candy corn that will look great in one of my old wooden bowls.



Thank you sooo much, Sara!!! It felt like Christmas come early when I opened the box to see all the wonderful items you had packed inside. It was truly a pleasure to meet you and I am proud to own some of your beautiful artwork.

OOAK~CROW~SHEEP~~~HALLOWEEN VIGNETTE

It is All Hallows Eve in the Land of Nod and Ma and Lilly have been trick-or-treating all night. The "witching hour" is fast approaching so they have perched themselves atop their trusty friend, Mr. Butterbean, and are heading home. Lilly is plum tuckered out from all the excitement of the night. With a tight grasp of her treat bag and pumpkin she settles in for the long ride home. Ma crow knows it will only be moments before her little one is fast asleep.

This vignette has been made using only the finest quilt shop quality fabrics. This is a rather large halloween display measuring 13" wide (head to tail of sheep) and 12 1/2" tall (floor to top of Ma's hat.)






Mr. Butterbean is made of painted and aged muslin. His wool coat is made of hard to find, vintage seed batting resulting in the perfect prim look that we all love so much. His blanket is drab green wool felt. All the edges are blanket stitched using black linen thread. The pockets are filled with dried sweet annie. Although not exactly thrilled by the idea, Mr. Butterbean agrees to wear a "Happy Halloween" sign around his neck just to keep Ma happy.






Ma and Lilly are made of painted muslin that has been put through a five step aging process. Their faces have been needle sculpted and their eyes are black seed beads. Their legs/feet made of rusty wire. Lilly holds her orange treat bag, a prim pumpkin made of paperclay and her trusty broom made from an old stick.

Ma has her own trusty broom but finds herself busy guiding Mr. Butterbean through the woods. The crows are a Soft in the head design.




This vignette is full of detail and can be displayed from either side.

I KNOW, I KNOW.......I HAVE BEEN MISSING.....

We have been doing a remodel in our kitchen now for the past couple of weeks. The new cupboards are up and the walls are finally painted. The countertop is a black/tan swirly pattern. I chose to match the tan color so my walls are now a caramelly shade of tan. I know it sounds a little corny....but....all the black - my sink, faucet and prim wood pieces really "pop" against this color.

So, I thought I would share a few pics of our "work in progress" and give you a virtual tour.



I love my new microwave cubby. Before, it sat on an ugly old cart with wheels. ugh.




I chose a black cast iron Kohler sink. It is approx. 8 inches deep. Love it!! You don't get the splash all over your walls and countertop while doing dishes. Yes...you heard me right....doing dishes. I don't have a dishwasher:)









Oh my goodness...my new pantry. Don't know what I ever did without one!!!




This dry sink was originally brown. I repainted it black and distressed. I guess you could safely say that black is my next favorite color...heehee!




A close-up of the dry sink. (The little rabbit make-do was made for my by Kim of Old Road Primitives.) It is sitting on top of my antique dairyware bucket.




This paper towel holder was originally buttercream over black crackle finish. I refinished it prim black. This piece was made for me by Cedar Hill Primitives.




The vintage bench was a $5.00 yard sale find that I redid in the black and distressed. (It is one of my favorite things:)




Our back door - the peg rack is a $7.00 find from hobby lobby that I painted and distressed. We have no coat closet in this old farmhouse, so this rack will be loaded with coats this winter. The Olde Farmhouse sign is from the Country House.




My old pantry jar shelf that Mr. Wonderful made and my treenware bowl that I found on one of my trips to Shipshewana, Ind. (Amish country)
